What Is Arthritis?
Arthritis is a term used to refer to inflammation, pain, and stiffness in the joints. The two most well known forms of arthritis are Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). However, there are many forms of arthritis that are less commonly known.
Arthritis affects people of all ages and races, and it is more common among women and as we age. According to the Arthritis Foundation, “… it is the leading cause of disability in America.” Arthritis pain can severely inhibit one’s quality of life leading to less activity, chronic pain, deformed joints, inability to grasp items and care for oneself, and even depression.
Osteoarthritis (OA)
Osteoarthritis is a chronic disease that affects some 27 million Americans. OA is characterized by the breakdown of cartilage – the part of a joint that cushions the ends of the bones and allows easy movement. As cartilage deteriorates, bones begin to rub against one another. This can cause stiffness and pain that make it difficult for you to use that joint.
Osteoarthritis can also damage ligaments, menisci and muscles. Over time OA may create a need for joint replacements. Osteoarthritis occurs most often in knees, hips and hands. Other joints, particularly the shoulders, can also be affected.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a form of inflammatory arthritis and an autoimmune disease, meaning that the immune system – which is designed to protect our health by attacking foreign cells such as viruses and bacteria – instead attacks the body’s own tissues, specifically the synovium, a thin membrane that lines the joints.
As a result of the attack, fluid builds up in the joints, causing pain in the joints and inflammation that’s systemic – meaning it can occur throughout the body.

Get Arthritis Help!
Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in America. More than 50 million adults and 300,000 children have it. Over 3 million new US cases are diagnosed per year.
Conventional treatments for arthritis fail to treat the underlying cause and primarily focuses on symptom relief. Pain relievers often lead to serious complications and do further damage to the important gut lining.
Since 1997 we’ve been helping patients overcome difficult health conditions like arthritis & we can likely help you too.
